In this video I’m finally back after a little two-week break (Mexico was wonderful… but I did get food poisoning and it took me a bit to fully recover). Today I’m sitting down with the new Merit Lip Blushes and doing swatches plus a try-on of the four shades Merit sent me: Andie, Archival, Vendome, and Bespoke. I didn’t buy the other shades because I’m trying to be realistic—if I know I won’t wear a bright red or deep berry, I don’t want it sitting in my drawer unused. I go shade by shade and talk about what these feel like on the lips, especially from a mature-skin perspective. The Lip Blush formula is a sheer matte that’s lightweight and buildable, and to me it has that specific Chapstick-brand feel—just a bit more lightweight and slippy. Andie reads like a warm baby pink with a hint of peach, Archival is my super wearable pink-mauve, and Vendome is a warm sheer nude that I think I’ll reach for the most. Bespoke surprised me—it sheered on my hand but went much deeper and almost vampy on my lips, so I’d personally blot it and add something glossy like my Eadem balm. I also do quick swatches of Merit’s Signature Lipstick in Slip and Millennial, and I’m flagging that Millennial has changed—if you loved the old cooler tone, hang onto it. And I swatch Ginger for the first time, plus I share that the Merit Great Skin Mini Trio is back in stock and is such a good travel set.
