In this video I’m sharing a PR “unboxing” (even though I already took everything out of the shipping boxes) and giving you my first impressions on a bunch of new makeup and perfume. I’d been out of town—Hawaii and then back east for my older son’s college graduation—so I had a little pile built up and I was excited to sit down and walk through it with you. The big headline is Merit's brand new release, The Uniform: a tinted mineral sunscreen with SPF 45. I’ve worn it about four times now, including through a couple workouts, and I’m really enjoying the natural, slightly dewy skin finish and how easily it applies like lotion. I also swatch and chat through Merit's new Sheen finish Lip Slicks (Biarritz is on my lips today, and Tabby is a rose-brown I haven’t worn yet), plus a few Salt New York goodies—especially their new Olive Green Sneaky Balm for color correcting (yes, I accidentally used it under my eyes and it actually worked). We get into Odacité’s SPF 50 Color Balm in Sienna Rose (beautiful, creamy, but I’m still not convinced SPF in blush is a true selling point), and then Milk Makeup: two mini blush sticks, their Kush mascara, and a Hydro Grip setting mist I actually like for a dewier finish. For perfume, I go rapid-fire: Vyrao Georgette is an earthy rose-tobacco-patchouli that’s beautifully balanced, and I also sniff Linen Tutu’s Lavender Cookie body oil, Abel Cyan Nori (very musky), and a few from Lake & Skye plus Ceremonia’s guava mist. I wrap up with a standout body care mention: Wonder Valley’s Hinoki body wash is the real deal if you love that scent.
