About This Video

Welcome to Tizo Guitar—if you’re new here, I’m Tizo, and this channel is all about helping you improve on guitar, especially if you love R&B. In this lesson I break down how I play “Twenties” by Giveon. It’s a smooth track with a few tasty chord voicings that are super worth adding to your toolkit, and I keep it simple so you can get the feel fast and actually sound musical. The song is in the key of G major, and I show you the 7 chords you’ll need: Gmaj7, Em7, Am7, D7, Bm7, Cmaj7 (on fret 3), and B7. Then we walk through each section: the verse progression (Gmaj7–Em7–Am7–D7), the pre-chorus (Bm7–Em7–Am7–D7), and my favorite part—the chorus. For rhythm, I like to strum each chord twice, but the second strum I mute right after to get that tight R&B pocket. Once you’ve got the shapes and transitions, the song becomes pretty intuitive because the movement repeats. Tabs are linked in the description, and if you want extra lessons and tabs, I’ve got weekly content on Patreon too.
