About This Video

In this lesson, I’m showing you how I play “Here We Go” by Coco Jones, and I’m keeping it super practical so you can get it under your fingers fast. The song is in the key of F# major and the whole thing is built on just three chords: G# minor 7, D# minor 7, and A# minor 7. I walk you through the exact progression I’m using (G#m7 to D#m7 to A#m7 and back to D#m7), and we run it slowly so you can hear how it locks in. I also break down the feel, because that’s what makes this track sound smooth. It’s in 6/8, so I use a picking pattern where I hit the first three strings individually, then strum the full chord once and mute it right after. On that last D#m7, I do a quick double strum-and-mute to give it that little push. After you’ve got the loop down, I show you a few simple embellishment notes you can add on the top strings (like 6 on high E and 7 on B for G#m7, 9s for D#m7, and 7 on B for A#m7) so you can start adding your own flavor without overthinking it.
