About This Video

In this lesson I’m breaking down how to play “Type Questions” by Muni Long on guitar. I’d rate this one as intermediate, so if you need a little extra practice to nail it, that’s perfectly okay. I walk you through the full structure you need—intro, the main chord progression, the small verse/pre-chorus variation, and then the bridge (which has a lot of chords, so I show it slowly so you don’t get overwhelmed). I also included tabs for the whole lesson so you can follow along and lock it in faster. A big part of the vibe is the right-hand feel. I show you how I’m slap muting between the chord hits—curling my knuckles in and using the side of my thumb and fingernails to get that percussive R&B sound. We start with an easy E minor 7 and move through shapes like A minor 7 and B minor 7, then I show the quick-chord section with open-string plucks and the D over F# shape. After that, I cover the verse variation with an unorthodox C major 7 shape, and finally the bridge progressions (including F# minor 11, B7, diminished movement, and that little walk into B7).
