About This Video

In this video I’m basically giving you the backstory on my guitar journey and how it led to me starting Tizo Guitar. If you’re new here, my name is Tyler Griffiths (I go by Tizo), and this channel is all about learning guitar with a special focus on R&B. I’m not typically someone who seeks attention, so getting in front of a camera was definitely outside my comfort zone—but it’s been worth it, because I’ve been able to help a lot of people learn their favorite songs. I talk about when I first started messing around with my dad’s guitar (around 12), and the moment that made me take it seriously—hearing the house band live at the BB King Blues Club when I was about 15 or 16. I also explain how I learned: I’ve never taken private lessons, but I don’t really call myself “self-taught” either. My learning was self-directed through YouTube, books, and online courses, and I’m grateful for the teachers who made that content. I break down the order I learned things (basics, open chords, songs/strumming, barre chords), why I wish I started music theory earlier, and why I created this channel: to make R&B more accessible for beginner/intermediate players and to make sure the music I love is represented alongside all the rock/pop/blues tutorials.
