About This Video

Today was a very, very exciting interruption in my dream barn build series—because it was finally time to bring my horses home. Before we could even think about loading up, Mike and I had to divide and conquer and knock out a bunch of last-minute “make it horseproof” jobs: finishing fencing, building wooden gates (so everything looks cohesive), chaining and locking paddock gates so nobody ends up where they shouldn’t, and doing a full safety sweep for loose barbed wire and random junk. One of the biggest things I did was run my magnet through the sand and, you guys… it pulled up an insane amount of sharp metal that you literally cannot see on the ground. That alone made me feel so much better about turning horses out here. After a long day, we made the drive to Okeechobee and brought home three horses—Trigger, Louis, and Blaze—while June stayed with my friend Tiana to be ridden (I’m really pregnant and won’t be riding for a while). We got them unloaded at night, watched them meet the cows (quietest meeting ever), and the next morning I had the biggest serotonin boost feeding them on my own property for the first time. It feels surreal, and we’re just getting started—Cash and the donkeys are coming soon, and the barn still has a lot left to finish.
