BIG day for the barn, you guys. In this video I’m officially starting the horse stalls in my new dream horse barn (part 8), and I was genuinely so excited because stalls are the whole reason this barn exists. We went with the RAMM Oxford stall kits this time (first time I’ve ever installed stall kits), so this first stall was basically our “practice stall” while Mike and I figured out measurements, posts, U-channels, and getting everything level. I built the back walls with tongue and groove, mounted the dividers, set the grill partitions, and started dialing in the look so it still feels like “my barn,” even if that means I deviate from the instructions a little. The biggest decisions (and time-eaters) were the double 2x12 headers and the sliding door. I loved the idea of sliding doors and this one ended up being super heavy duty, with a spring-loaded latch that locks just by closing it—so simple and so secure. We also started staining (impromptu, because I got excited), and I’m so happy I went with the darker color because it gives the stall so much character. By the end, the stall is basically a working stall—still need stall mattresses and I’m planning to concrete the walkout area—but it finally looks like a real horse barn in here.
