In this part of my dream horse barn build, I finally tackled the tack room—and I was way more excited about this one than the pet utility room because this space needed to look really, really nice and be super functional. The ceiling and wood were already done, and I hired out the tile (it looks way better than our tile job, and I’m very far along in my pregnancy, so I was not doing that again). Then we stained everything, got trim and outlets in, and started bringing in the fun stuff like the green cabinets, butcher block countertop, and the leather couch I scored on Marketplace. I set this room up to be both a feed room and a tack room, so everything had to make sense for real daily use. I installed pull-out trash can holders inside the cabinets for feed storage, added a sink so I can wash my hands and soak feed, and brought in a mini fridge that’s more practical than “cute” because it’s going to hold horse meds and barn stuff. Then we mapped out and installed my Schneider racks—tack hooks, saddle racks (I chose four to keep it spacious), and an easy-up foldable saddle rack outside the tack room for quick saddling in the alleyway. The build portion is officially done, and next is decorating and filling it, but I’m obsessed with how functional and cozy it turned out—very rustic western, outwest Montana style, which was the whole goal.
