In this video I’m looking back at 2025 — and honestly, it felt like the campervan rulebook got rewritten. We said goodbye to what many people call the last “true” Volkswagen Transporter, the T6.1, and then the new Transporter arrived (the one everyone keeps calling the T7), built alongside the Ford Transit Custom. That Ford/VW alliance caused loads of controversy, and every time I covered it I got a fair bit of hate — but the reality is converters are building on it now, and at the NEC I saw a proper spread of models coming through. I also get into what I saw trending at the shows: adventure-style builds, off-road looks, grippier tyres, 4Motion-style thinking — not necessarily hardcore off-roading, but real-world muddy fields and rough car parks. Hybrids were a big talking point too, like the prototype builds tapping into the traction battery, and I’m genuinely interested because petrol + electric could be the best of both worlds. Then there’s the bigger “what happens next?” moment: EU chatter that could change the petrol/diesel ban timeline. If that shifts, it could massively affect vanlife choices — especially with the questions around electric weight and range when you’re fully loaded. 2026 is shaping up to be another big one… and yes, I also touch on selling my own van and the grief I got for it.
