This one was a van I’ve wanted to see in the flesh for ages, and Shane dragged his Van Haven-built VW Transporter T6.1 out in an absolute downpour so I could get a proper tour. It’s based on a 2022 T6.1 T32 Highline (204 DSG) and it’s got that proper rugged “swamper” vibe outside—lift kit, KO2s, snorkel, scene lights… the lot. Shane’s the sort of bloke where if he sees something shiny, it ends up on the van, and honestly I respect it: you buy a van for you, not for everyone else’s opinion. Inside, it’s not your typical factory camper setup either. We talk through the reconfig to make it more lounge-focused while keeping a full-time queen-size bed, plus loads of clever storage like the big pull-out tray and the sofa with soft-close drawers. The big headline is the Clayton Power LPS 23000 system—this thing is running a double induction hob, air fryer, kettle/toaster, TVs, and it charges while driving and off the solar.
