People always ask me, “What’s the point of going to the NEC Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show if you can’t afford a new £70–80k campervan?” In this video I explain exactly why I’m still going. I’m not turning up with a chequebook for a brand-new van—I’m going for inspiration, layout ideas, and to basically steal the best bits: materials, worktops, pop-tops, toilets, showers, and the clever little design hacks converters are using right now. I also run through my plan for the halls and what I’m specifically hunting for. The big one is the new VW T7 Transporter conversions—especially a new seat/bed system on rails. If you’ve ever used rail systems, you’ll know there’s a common (minor, but annoying) issue, and I’m going to see if anyone has a proper solution for it at the show. I’ll also be checking out Slidepods, roof tents (Latitude and Tentbox), MiRider e-bikes, and a load of accessories for my budget project van (which has now turned into “projects”… plural). Beyond the shiny vans, I’m heading to see real-world kit like Pundman heaters for hot showers, thermal screens (Rainbow and Vanshades), Duvalay sleeping systems, Avtex tech, and Batteries & Solar for Victron-style electrics. And don’t ignore the Inspiration Theatre either—it’s genuinely worth it for talks, ideas, and planning your own trips.
