After a tough year in terms of health and wealth, and after my Spain trip that was a total disaster on paper (floods, cancelled trains, expensive taxis), it really hammered home what actually matters: being there, living it, and making the memories. I also talk about how easy it is to get trapped chasing “perfect vanlife” — waiting for the build to be finished, the shower to be fitted, the heating to be right, or the dream van to be affordable. The outdoors doesn’t care what you sleep in. I saw old, rusty vans parked next to £100k+ motorhomes and everyone was getting the exact same views. The real campervan gift for 2025 isn’t something you can wrap: it’s time. Time with your partner, your mates, your family—phone off, muddy field, walk in the woods, beach air, just being together. My challenge is simple: stop saying “we should do this again” and actually book the day, even if it’s local and imperfect.
