Good evening, track gang—this Sidetrack Sunday (#4 for September 2025) is mostly a “what’s going on around Ray’s basement (and life)” kind of update, with a big focus on upcoming train show plans. I talk through the October Great Scale Model Train Show (GSMTS) in Timonium (Oct 25–26) and the Fall GSMTS YouTube Meet & Greet. If you’re coming, I really need you to RSVP so Joe Rider (Black Rock Central) and I can plan the day, because we’re tag-teaming this one with a meet & greet at the show, then layout tours at Joe’s place and my Boeville & Newtown (B&N), and food at my house afterward. I also share progress (and my own nitpicking) on the backdrop I’ve been painting—yep, I made the foreground trees shorter than the background trees, so I’ve got to go back and “play Bob Ross” and add some more happy little trees. On top of that, I give an update on a big non-train project: I rebuilt my computer desk after building a new PC, including an upper shelf, bracing for stability, and plans for LED backlighting under the shelf. Between work changes, family stuff, and being under the weather, it’s been a long stretch—but we’re still rock and rolling toward show season.
