About This Video

Hey Track Gang—welcome back to Episode 10 for 2026 on the Boeville & Newtown. This week I’m focused on the Uptown Boeville/upper deck area now that I’ve finished hooking the wiring into the control panel. Before I do any real scenery work, I’ve got to get the rails cleaned up—mineral spirits and a rag—because I’ve been soldering joints and adding drop feeders on the interurban line. And just to repeat it for the new folks: I don’t solder turnouts. Anything mechanical is going to bite you sooner or later, and I literally had to rip out a turnout that tested fine but went dead on the divergent route once it was installed. I also walk through how the interurban is supposed to work long-term. Right now it’s manual and a little clunky, but the plan is relay-and-switch automation where the streetcars trade places between the south car barn and the hidden north-end track over Harrisburg staging. I show the dispatcher’s panel, the ops mode vs show mode setup, and then I try to run the cars—of course it acts up as soon as the camera is on. I wrap up with an Uptown scenery/foam-core lesson (paint warps it—mount it first), a quick layout add (a sanding tower from Joe at Block Rock Central), and a mail call update on brick sheets for a warehouse build.
