About This Video

Well, hello Track Gang—episode 9 for 2026 is a full-on progress report week on the Boeville & Newtown. I’m still deep in the Boeville Yard and roundhouse area, and I finally tackled what became the bane of my existence: cutting and recessing the homasote so the roundhouse base sits level. I had completely forgotten that this section is pieced between the 2-foot shelf, the turntable area, and the 4x8—of course none of it matched up because that would be too dag on easy. I got it leveled, test-fit the tracks, rolled cars past the clearances, and I’m planning a one-piece wood base with shims so the whole roundhouse can come out as a unit if I need to. On the second deck side, I’m finishing wiring and fixing some “oops” planning around the station cutout—so I’m adding a bus/feeder tie-in at a splice point by the incline to feed the south end of downtown. I also broke down and glued in foam core to stop the foam “crumblies,” then I’ll reconnect splits, verify wiring as I go, and clean track. Back in the yard, I reconfigured the diesel fueling facility, shifted a track so it clears the cabooses and unloading rack, and found a turnout that’s dead on the divergent leg—so that one’s getting replaced. Plus, the 3D-printed roundhouse parts are coming along, and the brick detail is just ridiculous in the best way.
