About This Video

Well, hello track gang—Episode 6 for 2026 is one of those weeks where I’m down on the second deck and getting serious about buss wiring the interurban line. I’m DC, and yeah, I get the whole “you don’t need a bus on DC” argument, but I’ve learned on my main lines that buss wire with drop feeders keeps the stuttering away unless the locomotive itself is the problem. The interurban is a long, long run—20+ feet into the backdrop and roughly 30-some feet total—with no blocks, so I want solid power distribution from the dispatcher’s panel controller all the way to the far end. In this video I walk through my plan using terminal strips so sections stay removable, plus how I’m separating track power, house lighting, and street lighting. I had a couple self-inflicted snafus (because of course I did), but with a nudge from Bob over at PK&W and the Side Track Sunday crew, I changed tactics and used the backdrop’s metal posts for cable management—same idea I used on Ward Hill. By the end, I’ve got the bus run, feeders in from the dam scene north, and I’m leaving slack and pigtails so the corner section can come out without a wrestling match. It was a struggle week, but the wiring plan is finally starting to make sense.
