About This Video

Hey Track Gang—this is Boeville & Newtown Episode 44 for 2025, Ops Session Part 7 from our December 16th operating session, and we’re finishing up the last of the first half of my schedule. I’m up around movement 13 and 14—through freights northbound and southbound, and then the local passenger moves—so after tonight the first 28 trains (the first 14 movements) are basically in the books. I don’t even read the printed schedule anymore because the train cards tell me who’s supposed to go and who’s not, but I still like keeping the “first half / second half” concept in my head when I’m pacing an ops session. On the layout, the next trains out were 25 and 26 (the through freights), and I took you down to my favorite railfanning spot at the bridge to catch the action. Of course, it wouldn’t be one of my ops nights without something acting up—camera goes on and suddenly a train that was fine starts giving me fits, plus I’m chasing a couple rolling stock issues I haven’t had before. After the freights made it in (not without issues), I broke them down, found my track cleaning car in the mix, and confirmed one problem car just doesn’t have enough weight. I wrapped this one a little shorter on purpose. I’m at a good stopping point halfway through, and I’m holding off on pushing deeper until I get some track, locomotive, and rolling stock maintenance handled. I also tacked on channel shoutouts and teased a run of videos leading up to Christmas—including a Sidetrack Sunday on the 21st (8 PM Eastern) with the whole gang and some surprises.
