Hey track gang—welcome to Episode 42 for 2025, Ops Session Part 5 on the Boeville & Newtown. This one starts with me cleaning up a minor goof in my ops paperwork around the diesel fueling facility tank cars in Boeville. I’ve got three dedicated tank cars and I finally nailed down the cycle that makes sense for my railroad: Richmond to Boeville (sit two cycles), then off to Harrisburg, then back to Richmond to start over. Little details like that help the session feel more “real,” even if it means I’m still tinkering with how the cars flow. From there, it’s the usual controlled chaos: Train 17 (Rock Island) heads out and parks outside Newton’s Farm so I can keep the dance going while the north end gets worked. Then I grab Train 18 and do the Boeville yard shuffle—fighting a couple mystery uncouplings, a derailment, and a locomotive that only wants to behave after I’ve “convinced” it. Up at Weichert Industrial I split the cut, work the shuffle shelf, and deal with that Y turnout on the incline that loves to remind me it’s in charge. Back in the yards, I break down 17 and 18, start building 21/22 for next week, and I even let the Southern Crescent Limited stretch its legs—because sometimes you’ve just got to let the nice steamer jog around the layout. I wrap it all by staging and flipping passenger moves (19/20), then I ask you all: do you want the full ops session into next year, or stop at Train 28?
