Well, hello track gang—episode 4 for 2026 was supposed to be a pretty straightforward week of working the Uptown Boeville corner and finishing up track work for the interurban. To even get into that corner, I had to pull the backdrop down (yeah…that’s why it’s “missing”). I got the roadbed glued in so I can get a smoother transition down to street level, because when I’m in uptown/downtown Boeville I want those interurban tracks sitting at street height, not riding up above the road like I did in other spots. Along the way I snuck in some 3D printing projects: old-time bus stops that make perfect interurban stops, guard rails for the bridge over the reservoir, and an icing platform that I test-fit with refrigerator cars (it works, even if I botched the first couple prints). Then the “one project leads to another project” kicked in hard—turns out I created a second-deck disaster trying to access track underneath the city. I chased down a bad rail joint (that was most of the problem) and then fought with a flaky Shinohara curved, power-routing turnout that’s been contankerous since day one. Progress was made, but I’m still debating replacing that curved turnout, because forcing passenger trains through a switch is not good operation—especially with the October show clock ticking.
