Hey track gang—welcome back to Boeville & Newtown Episode 39 for 2025, Ops Session Part 2. In this one I set the stage for how my B&N ops work: a fictitious bridge route between Harrisburg, PA and Richmond, VA, loosely set 1950–1970 so I can still run some steam if I want, but avoid the modern power I’m not chasing. I’m running DC with handheld walkaround throttles, and I show you how Richmond Yard is laid out (one inbound, four outbound) plus how the railroad can flip from operations mode to “show mode” and just let trains loop. From there it’s trains 5 through 8—two through freights and two express passenger trains. You’ll see the Virginia F7 drag Train 5 past New Newton’s Farm and through the S-curves, plus a quick reality check on my Track Guard felt cleaner (the old double-sided tape is long gone, and my tape “rig” isn’t holding). I also spotlight Downtown Boeville—Union Station, the dispatcher’s panel by the old bar, and the hidden passenger terminal tracks under the station. We finish by breaking down trains, talking about my “box of shame” for problem equipment, and then building Trains 9 and 10 for next week using car cards and waybills. Finally, I get Trains 11 and 12 staged (including my Tuscan GG1), and we’re set up for the switching-heavy session coming next.
