About This Video

In Episode 35 for 2025, I’m back over at Whicert Hill on the Boeville & Newtown, still pushing scenery forward even if it’s moving “however slowly as it would be.” I spent time getting the hills and trees in place, and while I’m not thrilled with the trees on the south end of the dam scene, they’ll suffice for the moment because I’ve got to keep moving. The next big step is getting grass and ground cover on those hills, but before I can do that I had to tackle the road and sidewalk situation. If you remember the north end, the roadway warped when I painted it first—so this time I’m trying a different plan of attack: relief cuts in the foam core, glue it in place with foam-friendly adhesive, and then paint it after it dries (carefully, because the backdrop is the big risk). Along the way I ran into the usual “best laid plans” stuff: I was four Jersey walls short so the 3D printer is running again, gaps opened up between foam core seams, and I flat-out forgot to paint the backside of the diner gray. I also got a retaining wall in, started laying sidewalks from a cut-up Coca-Cola case, and talked through where I go next on the layout. I also give the details for the Fall GSMTS YouTube Meet & Greet—where to meet, when the RSVP form closes, and the Saturday/Sunday add-ons like layout tours and the Baltimore Street Car Museum.
