About This Video

Hey Track Gang—welcome back to Episode 34 for 2025 on the Boeville & Newtown. This week I’m bouncing between two big priorities: getting the south-end backdrop at Wikard Hill moving forward, and finally making progress on the interurban line up top. I started by cutting in the beach outline with my sand paint (yes… “son of a beach”), and I also carried that same sand color down into the lower part of the dam scene. The dam is still in the “thinking out loud” stage—there’s a gap behind the upper spillway from how the scene evolved, and I’m weighing options like spackle/plaster to level it, plus figuring out what I’m using for water effects since some of the Woodland Scenics-type products I wanted are harder to get now. The bigger win in this episode is the incline/ramp work for the interurban. Ken Amos gave me a great idea a while back, but trying to bend foam around a tight 15-inch radius turned into an exercise in futility. So I changed tactics: I templated the curve, cut the foam into 2-inch segments (mini saw to the rescue), pinned it together, and installed it with foam-friendly adhesive—track bed included. It’s not pretty yet, but it’s finally a solid ramp that gets me closer to Uptown Boeville, and that’s a big step toward having this “first thing you see in the basement” area looking the way it should before late October.
