Hey track gang—this week’s Boeville & Newtown update is a little more “life” than “layout,” because I was running on fumes after helping my daughter get moved into her new place. We rented a 16-foot truck, hauled boxes and a couple pieces of furniture, and then I was back and forth a few days doing odds and ends because her boyfriend had to get right back to work. The move went well overall, but like any house, there are fixes—plus they found some unexpected wall damage from the previous movers, so there’s paint work in their future. Since I’ve been sore as heck and didn’t want anything too labor intensive, I pivoted back to the control panel. I pulled out my blown-up Boeville Yard template and put together a proof-of-concept panel on foam core with momentary switches and on/off toggles for dead tracks—down at the fuel facility and over by the switcher. One thing I noticed right away is how tight a cluster a few of those turnouts are, so spacing may be a challenge. I’m even considering wiring this thing live on Side Track Sunday—because, you know… wiring on a live show. This ought to be good.
