About This Video

Today I’m kicking off Part 1 of the Trellis Garden Quilt by Sew Becca—and yes, it’s an impromptu sew-along with a very on-brand Off Kilter start: tech issues, a system crash, and then me realizing I cut a bunch of pieces wrong. I thought I was being so diligent the day before, and then I went to sew a test unit and discovered my “squares” were supposed to be rectangles. So we’re pivoting: cutting and sewing at the same time, and keeping it moving anyway because that’s real life quilting. In this first session, I walk through the early construction—making the side accent units by sewing corner-to-corner, trimming, and building that clean angled look. I also share the fabric pull: Cherrywood overdye of Tula Pink Linework (a Soya + Cherrywood collab), plus more Tula and some starry blues, with a juicy orange pop. I talk about why I’m keeping most of the quilt in blues—Cherrywood can bleed, and I’d rather any color transfer stay subtle. If you want to sew along, the pattern link and my 50% off code are in the video description—grab fabric, embrace the “why not?” energy, and let’s make something bold.
