About This Video

Good morning, West Coast—this is Part 1 of me finally starting the Frosted Quilt, a free pattern by Giucy Giuce that was originally hosted on Andover’s site. Fun fact (and also, kind of ridiculous): when I went to grab the link, Andover had basically wiped Giucy from the website since he’s moved on, so I tracked down working download links for y’all and put them in the description. Do me a favor: go download the pattern. It’s free. Even if you never make it, it’s nice to have in your back pocket. In this video I’m getting us set up for the long haul: this quilt is 81 blocks total (41 dark, 40 light), each 8" x 8", and it finishes at 72" x 72". I’m using the Deco Frost fabric line because I’ve been obsessed with it for ages and I bought this kit over a year ago—then, you know… it sat. Today is all about block construction basics: cutting is done, we’re using a flip-and-stitch method to make flying geese, and I walk through building one of the corner blocks step-by-step. Also: time change means it’s officially rotary blade season. You set your clocks back? Cool—change your blade (and maybe your needle) before it turns into a hazard.
