About This Video

Good evening West Coast, good evening East Coast—hello to everybody in between (and outside). This live was a little surprise “come hang out” stream because Becca wasn’t feeling 100%, so I figured I’d give us all a place to keep the party going. We chatted about staying healthy (because I am not trying to catch a cough right before Disney World), what everyone was sewing, and yes… the very real struggle of finding a new barber when your usual one ghosts you. It’s like dating, and I’m not thrilled about trying someone new right before vacation photos. On the sewing side, I jumped into a Christmas gift: the Holland Pouch from Center Street Quilts—one of my go-to bag patterns because it’s beginner-friendly and super forgiving. I pulled out some Tula (including that graywork polar bear print), cut into my stripe fabric for binding, and had y’all help me choose a zipper (it was basically a dead heat until we landed on the blue). I also shared a few practical bag-making tips: why I usually grab my Juki for Soft and Stable, when I switch off my single-stitch plate for zipper work, and the classic “ask me how I know” reminders—like turning things inside out and moving the zipper pull out of your stitch path.
