Today, I'm excited to share my experience using the Zhiyun Molus X100 light during a recent fashion photo shoot. If you're looking for a compact yet powerful lighting solution, stick around to see how this light performed both outdoors and indoors. Zhiyun reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try out their lights. This is not a paid review. About This Video

In this video I’m doing a real hands-on review of the Zhiyun Molus X100 and showing how I used it on an actual fashion photo shoot—both indoors and outdoors. I break down the key specs (100 watts in a super compact body, 2700K–6500K range) and why that combo matters when you’re trying to move fast on set without hauling big lights. I also talk accessories, like using the Bowens mount adapter so I can throw on my own softbox and modifiers instead of being locked into one system. I walk you through multiple looks with our talent, Chevelle: a chill lifestyle setup in my home with two X100s as key/fill (softbox + china ball), a more dramatic stylized outdoor setup with warm/cool motivated color, and a sunset backyard look using one as a warm backlight and one cooled down through a Chinese lantern. Then I bring it back indoors for a moody bedroom scene, using the X100s for ambient warmth and a harsher bare light hit, while a bigger 500W light blasts through a window for that “streetlight” vibe. I also keep it honest about the downsides I ran into: I had an overheating warning outside and had to wait about 10 minutes to get going again, and the battery pack is cool and clean-looking but doesn’t last long—about 20 minutes at full power in my testing. Overall though, it’s a versatile little light I’d recommend having at least one of in your kit for key, fill, or backlight situations.
