In this video I’m talking about the Accsoon Seemo and my real thoughts after using it on a fashion shoot with a model named Lindsay. Full disclosure: Accsoon sent it to me for review—no money exchanged hands—and I’m still giving you my honest opinion. The biggest win for me was how compact it made my camera package while still letting me monitor properly on set. What the Seemo does is take an HDMI signal from your camera and convert it so you can use your iPhone as a monitor. And I’ve wanted that for years because, honestly, my phone screen has always felt like the better bet—brightness and screen quality are usually solid. You also get a bunch of filmmaking tools I actually use: zebras, waveforms, histogram, peaking, false color (huge for exposure), plus LUT support so you can view log footage with a usable look. I also break down the limitations: it compresses the signal to 1080p, and it tops out at 60p, so no 120fps monitoring. There’s a little lag (expected), but it wasn’t a deal breaker. The coolest part is that it can record to your phone (1080p 8-bit), which I love as a backup-on-top-of-backups option—because any footage is better than no footage.
