In this video I’m testing out Luminar Neo, an AI-powered photo editing software, and walking you through how I’d actually use it in my real workflow. Full disclosure: Skylum sent me Luminar Neo to try, but my whole mindset is simple—if it makes my job easier, I’m all for it. I shoot a lot of weddings and a lot of fashion work, so anything that saves time without killing the natural look is a win. I start with a fashion portrait I shot on a Canon R6 with a 24–70 and show my basic edits: exposure, smart contrast, shadows/highlights, and quick white balance using the color dropper. Then I get into the AI tools that really matter: Structure AI (I actually pull it down for a softer, more filmic look), Relight AI (super clutch for separating foreground/background without masking), and Mood LUTs for fast color. From there I demo Face AI, Skin AI, and Body AI—and my rule is always the same: keep it subtle, never overdo it, because it can get unrealistic fast. Finally, I show Sky AI on travel images (Tokyo/Japan) and older work from the channel—replacing flat skies, matching the scene relighting, and even dialing in reflections. My takeaway: AI editing tools are just another tool in your toolbox. For quick, clean results, Luminar Neo can really help photographers move faster, but some images will still need deeper retouching.
