About This Video

Honestly, I don’t even know how Marc Jacobs Perfect Absolute snuck into my collection full size… because she was supposed to be a travel. But the bottle is so pretty (that deep burgundy, almost-black fall wine vibe) and I was super intrigued by the caramelized fig note, so I had to grab it and give y’all a real-time first impression. In this video I go through the packaging, the notes (fig/caramel, jasmine, amber), and I test it on paper first and then on my skin—because y’all already know: paper can lie. On the strip, it starts off giving me a mix of fig + something that reads like sparkling cherry, and it leans dark, syrupy, and boss-girl—very fall/winter, not daytime at all. But on my skin? The opening turns medicine-like, like cough syrup, and that honestly upset me because I wanted fig, not cherry/medicine. The dry down gets better: the jasmine and that “glowing amber” Marc Jacobs DNA comes through, and it turns more sultry and warm. Overall I rate it a solid 7/10—nice, worth smelling in-store at Sephora/Ulta, but I don’t see myself reaching for it often (and no, I’m not keeping it just for the bottle… y’all better hold me to that).
