I’m currently on a length retention journey, and I’ve realized real quick that it all starts with a moisturizing wash day—and honestly, it starts before I even step into the shower. In this video I’m working on an old, dry wash-and-go, so I pre-poo with Pattern’s Detangling Nectar to soften my hair, pre-detangle, and get shed hair out before it turns into tangles. My hair was giving “old dry sponge,” and just like a sponge, once you add water (and let it sit covered for 20–30 minutes), everything starts to move a lot easier. In the shower, I walk you through my cleansing routine: I clarify first (because if you’re dealing with dryness and you never clarify… please attempt to clarify), then I go in with an anti-dandruff hydrating shampoo for my dry, flaky scalp, and finish with Redken All Soft Mega Curls for that rich, hydrated feel without the squeaky-clean. After that, I deep condition on soaking wet hair with Pattern Heavy Conditioner + the steamer to get my coils “so juicy I cannot stand it,” then I fully detangle and keep my hair twisted so it doesn’t shrink back up. For styling, I do a damp braid out using Adwoa Beauty’s leave-in and curl cream. And the best part? I show you day four hair—still moisturized, still thriving, minimal refresh—because the routine (not just the products) is what seals the deal.
