Hey y’all—yes, I finally bought into the Cécred hype and put their heat styling line to the test on my type 4 hair from start to finish: full wash day, blowout, and silk press. I started the way I always do for a press—hair soaking wet and a clarifying shampoo first because I need a clean slate. That clarifying shampoo had my hair squeaky clean and honestly it even lifted some of my demi-permanent color, so just know it’s doing the job. Then I went in with the hydration shampoo (and I’m still offended nobody told me it hits like that), followed by the moisture mask under a heated cap for about 30 minutes to help with moisture and frizz control. For styling, I used the Silk Glaze Bundle: the Thermal Shield Mist first (super lightweight and instantly softened my hair), then the Heat Activated Silk Glaze section-by-section on damp hair like the website says—apply, comb through, blow dry with tension immediately. The shine was crazy from the blowout stage, but I did notice the glaze seemed to hold a lot of heat, and I struggled a bit getting my roots fully dry. I flat ironed at 410 in the back and 365 in the front, wrapped it overnight, then used the flexible hold hairspray before curling. Final thoughts: my hair felt lightweight, strong, moisturized, and looked super healthy with unreal shine—my only “complaint” is I expected slightly sleeker results without needing extra passes (and I’m not doing extra passes).
