A couple weeks ago I told y’all it would be a while before I tried Olaplex 3 Plus… and come to find out, I was lying. I grabbed the brand new Olaplex No.3+ during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty and did a true first impression on my type 4 hair. I bleach, I use heat, and I’ve got demi-permanent color on my ends right now—so bond repair is something I normally keep in rotation, even though I’ve been slacking lately. In this wash day, I compared the original No.3 consistency to the 3 Plus and immediately noticed the difference: the original is runnier, and the 3+ is thicker, creamier, and (to me) has a slightly milder, more pleasant scent. I applied it on soaking wet hair in four sections and focused on my trouble area—my crown/middle—because that’s where my hair gets wiry and dry. On application my hair felt super soft, it “melted” in, and detangling got noticeably easier. My takeaway: I really liked it, especially because it could save me time and money if I can skip No.0. Yes, it’s $4 more than the original, but if it gives me that one-step vibe, I’m here for it. I’m planning to use Olaplex 3 Plus at least once a month while I stay on my length retention/healthy hair journey.
