I big chopped in April 2013. I have medium to low porosity hair, that is super dense at the crown. My haircare regimen includes washing my hair at least once a week, regular treatments (protein, olaplex and bond salve) and trims every 3 months on blown out hair. I am not a hair care professional, and I'm honestly still learning my hair. About This Video

Friends, welcome to my February hair vlog—aka a real “month in my hair” where I’m trying to keep it simple and actually be intentional. The theme was less is more, length retention is the name of the game, and I’m building off the foundation from my January trim because my hair has been acting right since then. I checked in on my scalp (a little flaky but not itchy at first), did wash days, played with a reverse/dry-and-go idea, and reminded myself that my hair never comes out right when I rush. I also talked through what I’m trying to do differently—like not putting product all the way to my roots when I don’t need to, and focusing on keeping my ends moisturized and protected. This month was also very “I’m using what I already have.” I rotated cleansers and treatments (moisture + protein + bond-type thinking), obsessed over getting my hair fully dry (especially with The Doux gels), and leaned back into braid outs because they just make my hair look and feel healthier when I take the time. I tested a dry hair mask spray that I didn’t love at first (felt like it sat on top), got excited about upcoming AUA reformulations, and ended the month refreshing my color back to jet black for a hair opportunity—while also being honest about my heat-damage anxiety and why I’m trying to chill on flat ironing.
