About This Video

Well well well… I feel like we’ve been waiting on this hydrating texture foam since 2020, and in this video I finally put it to work on my type 4 hair with Adwoa Beauty’s Baomint Moisturizing Curl Gel for a wash and go. I started out stressed because I couldn’t decide on layering (mousse then gel vs. gel then mousse), and of course I had to test it in real time so y’all don’t have to. I tried mousse-first and immediately didn’t like how it took away my clumping, so I switched to gel-first with the foam on top—and that was the key. Better definition, a little more length, and the combo felt like butter when it was right. I dried my hair with a mix of hooded dryer time (about 15–20 minutes) and diffusing, and I’m keeping it real: I did get some flakes, mainly where I got heavy-handed with product. The next day the hair still had good hold and low frizz, just a lighter hold than when I use the Baomint leave-in + gel combo. I also tested the Hydrating Conditioning Oil Mist as a lightweight, fragrance-forward finisher/heat protectant, but I’m still undecided on its “must-have” status after one use. Overall: I like the foam as a supportive styler (not a one-product wash and go for my thick/coily girls), and I’m still telling my thicker-haired folks—be patient. Everything ain’t for everybody.
