I’m a big believer in practical changes that fit into a cozy, minimalist routine, and I also want to be real about how overconsumption gets glamorized (even in “eco” spaces). These tips are meant to help you reduce waste without turning your life into a never-ending project. I start with fountain pens because they’re one of the easiest upgrades if you write a lot (I’m a planner, so I go through ink daily). A single fountain pen can last a lifetime, and bottled ink is shockingly hard to use up—plus it’s genuinely more fun to write with. Then I talk about libraries as absolute community gold mines: books, media, seed libraries, and even equipment borrowing (I’m literally borrowing a portable scanner instead of buying one). I also share how I “shop my stash” by consolidating backups into one bin and using what I already own before buying more. Finally, I get into sustainable toiletries that have actually worked for me—especially with my hand eczema—like a powdered refill body wash system and a gentle olive oil bar soap. And for groceries, I share how shopping bulk (or just buying larger quantities of true staples) can cut down on plastic waste if it’s accessible where you live.
