After moving into my new apartment, I’ve been minimizing like crazy and really wanted to get back to my minimalist roots. Since this place has bamboo flooring, I leaned fully into a Japanese mid-century vibe, and it’s made my little corner feel so cozy and intentional. I walk you through what changed from my previous setup (I used to use the top of a longer KALLAX-style unit), and how selling furniture that didn’t match my new aesthetic pushed me to find a better solution. The surprise hero is a tiny three-tier bamboo shelf I found on Marketplace—after trying it in my entryway and as a nightstand, it ended up being the perfect fit for my Audio-Technica record player. I also share how I’m positioning my speakers on a smaller surface (angled for a bit more space-filling sound), plus what I’m still working on—cable management. Finally, I show how I store my records on the bottom shelf and why I actually love that it lets me display a beautiful cover, and I chat about decluttering records to fund new ones (hello, Howl’s Moving Castle OST).
