About This Video

When it comes to home servers, function should always come before form… but every now and then I want something that actually looks cool on the shelf. In this video I build my first fully 3D-printed NAS/home server enclosure using the MASS case from ModCase, and honestly the final result turned out pretty great. It’s got five 3.5" hard drives, multiple NVMe SSDs, 10 gig networking, and the most powerful CPU I’ve ever featured on this channel—stuffed into a vertical, stackable design that you can literally print at home. I walk through the printing process (including that super cool “infill-as-mesh” trick), why I chose PETG, and how I tried to tame the shiny layer-line look with a matte clear coat. For hardware, I tested Minisforum’s BD795i ITX board with a Ryzen 9 7945HX, then worked around the lack of SATA ports with adapters and a QNAP 10GbE + dual-NVMe card. I also cover real-world gotchas: vague assembly order, cabling headaches, SATA connector orientation, and a few design quirks I’d love to see improved. By the end, I’ve got Proxmox running with a TrueNAS VM, ZFS for the NVMe mirror, Jellyfin hardware transcoding on the Radeon 610M, and a server that’s nearly silent (minus one tiny fan). It’s a fun build with a few lessons learned—especially around motherboard choice and cable management.
