About This Video

Between DRAM pricing going nuts and “AI everything” slapped on every box, I honestly wasn’t expecting to get excited about a NAS you can just buy right now. But after testing the LincStation N2 from LincPlus, I came away thinking it’s actually a pretty solid value for the right person—especially if you want fast, flash-heavy storage in a tiny footprint. It’s a compact little NAS/home server with two 2.5" SATA bays, four M.2 NVMe slots, and 10GbE, and it’s just small enough to fit nicely in a 10-inch rack. In the video I walk through the design, I/O, and why I genuinely like that it ships with Unraid pre-installed (and even includes a starter license code). I also tested other OS options like TrueNAS and Proxmox, including using the built-in 128GB eMMC as a boot device—though TrueNAS needed a quick workaround to install. The biggest “gotcha” is the N100’s PCIe lane limitation: all four NVMe slots run at Gen3 x1, which caps single-drive throughput and means Unraid won’t saturate 10GbE the way you’d hope. I also measured idle power (right around 6W, which is impressive with 10GbE), ran Geekbench 6, tested Jellyfin transcoding and a Minecraft server, and talked about the fan tone, thermals, and whether the ~$400 price makes sense versus DIY.
