About This Video

Setting up a game server for you and your friends sounds awesome… until you’re juggling a bunch of different guides, configs, ports, and weird edge cases for every game. In this video I show how I’m doing it the easy way with AMP (Application Management Panel): one dashboard where I can spin up and manage a bunch of different servers—Minecraft, Terraria, Valheim, and more—without needing to be a “CIS admin” to get started. Yes, the video is sponsored, and yes, I’m a “dirty little shill” here, but I only do sponsor videos like this when it actually fits the channel and feels like a good value (and the lifetime license starting around $10 is honestly kind of wild). I walk through what hardware you actually need (spoiler: not much), why I want gigabit Ethernet (don’t run game servers over Wi‑Fi if you enjoy happiness), and why a dedicated server doesn’t need a power-hungry GPU. Then I install Debian, enable SSH, and install AMP with a single script. From there, I create multiple instances (including multiple Minecraft servers without port conflicts), tweak settings in a UI instead of living in config files, add Paper + plugins, and set up backups (including a quick detour into a Terraria backup hiccup and the manual fix). Finally, I show how to share servers without port forwarding using playit.gg tunnels—so friends can connect over the internet without you opening up your firewall.
