In this video I’m doing something I wish more controller reviewers would do: long-term follow-ups. These two rollers did not withstand the winds of time—the pummeling and punishing I give to all my plastic princesses behind the scenes. And before anybody panics because they saw AIM or Hex in the thumbnail: reel it back in. I’ve reviewed multiple units from both companies. I’m talking about two specific controllers that developed real issues, and I want you to know what broke, how it broke, and what the warranty/repair reality looks like when you’ve dropped $200–$400+ on a custom pad. First up is my very first AIM controller I ever reviewed (sent when I had ~30K subs), and about 2.5 years later the L1 bumper slowly died until it stopped working. AIM’s lifetime warranty usually covers stuff like that, but shipping and turnaround time matter, so I explain what I’d do instead (including a cheap DIY ExtremeRate fix). Then I break down my Hex Phantom (potentiometer version) issues: loose anti-friction ring from day one, slight left-stick drift later, and the big one—my right trigger turning into a loose wiggly tooth that feels like it’s about to snap. I also toss in an “honorable disappointment” with Battle Beaver: long wait, and limp triggers because the adaptive triggers get removed with no clear builder note.
