In this review I’m looking at Handheld Legend’s TMR thumbstick module DualSense—basically a stock-feeling PS5 controller that’s aiming to solve the biggest DualSense problem: stick drift. I unbox it, go over what you actually get in the box, talk cosmetics (yes, the saucy green/teal vibe is clean), and then I get into the real reason you’re here: how these TMR sticks feel compared to a stock DualSense, DualSense Edge, and other controllers I actually use. The big takeaway from my testing on PS5 and PC is the thumbsticks feel noticeably different—about 5–10% less resistance and “buttery smooth” movement because you’re breaking magnets instead of fighting the usual potentiometer hardware. I also show what I’m seeing in Gamepad Tester: there’s a little neutral jitter, and you sometimes have to be a little ginger bringing the sticks back to center, but I didn’t notice anything weird in real gameplay even with dead zones tightened down. At $150 you’re paying over double a stock pad, and the warranty is only 90 days (vs one year on a normal DualSense). My verdict: if you want stock DualSense vibes but you’re done with drift (and you don’t care about back buttons/trigger stops), this is a viable option. If you’re already spending $150 and you want “pro” features, I’d personally consider saving a bit more and stepping into the custom/pro controller tier.
