Nacon (yeah, the controller folks) has an offshoot called RIG for headsets, and in this video I’m reviewing their newest flagship: the RIG R8 Spectre for PS5 + PC (there’s an Xbox version too). I’ve been testing it for a few weeks before public release, and I’m not going to waste your time—this is my new favorite headset for PS5 and PC. It straight up replaced my Pulse Elite as my daily driver on PlayStation. You’re getting 60 hours of battery life, dual-mode connectivity (Bluetooth + 2.4G), and a flip-to-mute mic that’s super flexible (unlike me). I go through the unboxing and included accessories (base station with RGB, USB-C dongle, app QR, mod plates), then cover cosmetics, controls, and comfort. Comfort is a big deal for me, and this thing nails it: swivel cups, moisture-wicking memory foam mesh cushions, and a headband that actually adapts to your noggin. Then I test audio in games (Fallout 4 is my baseline) and on PS5 specifically with Dolby Atmos enabled—insane positional detail and one of the best “I’ve heard this scene a million times” experiences I’ve had. I also do a mic test and walk through the phone app (it’s good, but I still want a PC version). I wrap with pros/cons and my verdict: if you’re primarily on PS5 (or PC) and want a comfy, great-sounding wireless headset with a dock, this is the one I’m keeping permanently docked to my PS5—follow-up long-term reliability review coming later.
