Hex Gaming has five PS5 controller models right now (technically seven if you count the Hall Effect versions), and in this video I break them down side-by-side so you can actually figure out which one fits you—or if you should skip Hex entirely and look elsewhere. I’ve tested and reviewed every model I talk about here, and I’m giving you my personal favorites plus the ones I straight up don’t recommend anymore. Front and center: the PS5 Phantom is, in my opinion, the best Hex PS5 controller currently. And if you’re buying a custom/pro controller, I don’t recommend the potentiometer stick version when you can spend about $20 more and go Hall Effect. That’s the no-brainer move if you want to avoid drift long-term. I also explain why the Rival/Rival Pro aren’t worth it (two rear buttons only, and better options exist like the DualSense Edge), and why the Ultimate’s rear button layout feels clumsy even though it technically gives you four buttons. I also touch on pricing, included accessories, and quality control—Hex seems better than some other custom brands lately based on what I’ve been seeing. For Xbox, I call out the Ultra X as their best fully loaded option, even though I personally like the Advanced’s rear buttons more (but there’s still no Hall Effect option for Xbox from Hex as of now).
