In this video I’m reviewing the FlyDigi Vader 5S — the first legit, officially licensed Xbox controller from FlyDigi that doesn’t need a converter or adapter to work. I’ve had it for almost a month before public release, so I put real time on it and gathered my thoughts. We go through the unboxing (spoiler: no 2.4G dongle, because it’s wired), the included 10-foot USB-C cable, and the overall cosmetics. The controller looks sick with that cosmic pattern, but the plastic is also some of the slickest stuff I’ve ever touched, so I talk grips and comfort too. Then I break down the important stuff: the hybrid D-pad that I genuinely hate, the excellent face buttons, the Force Flex Hall effect sticks with adjustable tension rings, and the trigger locks with that mechanical mouse-click feel. Even though it’s only two rear buttons, you still get six extra inputs total thanks to the extra bumpers plus the C/Z face buttons. I also tested latency: I’m seeing about 4ms wired at 250Hz, and I couldn’t overclock it or get the FlyDigi software to recognize the 5S yet. My verdict: cool that it exists (and $60 is a better price), but for me the wired-only, two-back-button setup, and “cheaper vibes” make the wireless Vader 5 the better buy if you can spend a couple extra shekels.
