About This Video

In this video, I’m fixing one of the biggest giveaways of a “fake” screen recording: it looks too clean and flat. I show you how to take a boring capture and make it feel like it’s actually being filmed—more texture, more depth, and a more premium look—using DaVinci Resolve Fusion. The whole idea is simple: add a subtle RGB pixel pattern overlay, soften it the right way, then finish with a bit of contrast and glow so the screen sits naturally in your edit. I start by importing the RGB Pixel Pattern (link in the description), then in Fusion I merge it over my screen recording. I switch the Merge edges to “Wrap,” scale the pattern down, set Apply Mode to “Screen,” and keep the Blend around 0.2 so it doesn’t scream “effect.” Then I add a Mosaic Blur (pixel frequency around 200) to break up the overlay and make it feel organic. After that, I use Brightness/Contrast (gain about 1.3, lift down slightly) and finish with Glow—just enough to add that soft highlight. To sell the realism, I animate the shot using DVE: zoom, reframe, and keyframe a smooth scroll. I also show how to polish the keyframes in Spline using Cubic easing (or the quick “S” ease) so the motion feels clean and intentional.
