In this video I jump into DaVinci Resolve and show you exactly how I build a clean text message effect with a hologram vibe—using just two clips: a screen recording of the message animation and a shot of the phone. I start by cropping the screen recording so we keep the animation intact, then I duplicate it and reverse the speed so the message not only appears, but also disappears naturally. After that, I turn it into a compound clip and then a Fusion clip so everything stays tidy and easier to control inside Fusion. Inside Fusion, I first track the phone (this is important if your shot has even a little jitter). I use a Tracker node on a high-contrast point, switch the operation to Match Move, and set the apply mode to Screen so the black background disappears and the message blends onto the phone. From there I push the hologram look with a Luma Key-style contrast tweak and a Soft Glow—dialing down gain, increasing glow size, and even disabling the red channel for a teal-ish feel. Then I use a DVE to position and rotate the message to match the phone perspective, add a quick mask so it stays behind the phone edges, and finally duplicate the whole setup to create a flipped, blurred reflection that sits on the screen for that extra realism.
