About This Video

In this video I’m showing you how I make a clean, punchy TELEPORT effect in DaVinci Resolve using a super simple setup: two clips (one clean plate without me, and one with me in the frame) plus an Adjustment Clip on top. I take that Adjustment Clip into the Fusion page and build the core distortion using the Dent node—specifically changing the Dent type to Cosine Dent. The key is keyframing Strength and Size so the distortion ramps up right before the subject appears (in my example, clean plate ends at frame 15 and I start the animation around frame 13), then easing it back to zero after the reveal. After the basic teleport pop works, I polish it where the “magic” really happens: the Spline editor. I shape the Strength curve (Ctrl+A, then S) so the transition feels snappy and intentional instead of linear. Then I add Camera Shake only during the teleport frames by keyframing Blend in the shake settings, and I fix the checkerboard edges by simply zooming in a bit on the clips in the Edit tab. Finally, I mention how I layer sound effects (whoosh + cinematic hit + impact) from Epidemic Sound to sell the teleport. Bonus: since it’s built on an Adjustment Clip, I save it into Power Bins so I can reuse this teleport effect in every project.
