About This Video

In this video, I’m showing you how I quickly clean up dialogue audio inside DaVinci Resolve using only the inbuilt tools—no extra plugins, no complicated setup. I jump straight into the Fairlight tab and focus on three simple areas that make a real difference: Dialog Level, Dynamics, and EQ. The idea is to keep it fast, repeatable, and beginner-friendly, so you can get better voice clarity even if you’re editing travel films on a tight timeline. First, I enable Dialog Level under Track Effects and keep it on the default settings (you can turn it off if your clip doesn’t have much background noise). Then I go to Dynamics—yeah, it looks confusing—but I don’t overthink it. I just pick the built-in preset “Dialogue Compression,” which is a solid default, especially when you’ve got background music competing with your voice. Finally, I add EQ and choose the “Dialog M… Lab Finisher” preset so the voice sits cleaner and more present. The change is subtle, but that’s the whole point—subtle is the key, and you’ll hear it best on earphones.
